President's Message

Gujarat State Athletics Association(GSAA)  is a registered body of Gujarat state, came into existence in the early 70s affiliated to Athletics Federation of India, New Delhi and Gujarat state Olympic Association.

Athletics is the mother of all games. The main aim and objective of the state association are to develop athletics activities in the state by organising the selection of various national competitions as per activities calendar declared by the Athletics Federation of India. These activities are organised every year along with coaching camps, workshops, seminars etc. at various venues in the state.

For improvising and strengthening the technical knowledge of the athletics field, every alternative year GSAA examines technical officers of Gujarat state. These exams are known as “Federation State Technical Officials” and “Federation Technical Official examination”. The GSAA is also providing technical services to recognised international Marathons organised in the state.

In the field of organisation of National level competition, Gujarat State Athletics Association proved its capacity in conducting such types of competition in recent years. In the last 12 years, three West  Zone Junior Athletics Championships were conducted in the state, in 2007, 2013 and 2016. From 21st to 23 July 2018,  after a gap of more than 20 years, 15th National Youth Athletics Championship was organised at Vadodara, which was highly uploaded by all States and Federations also.

After 2012, the scenario in the Field of Athletics in Gujarat has changed. Our boys and girls have started winning medals at the national level, rather just participating.  From 2016, our players have won medals in double figures at the national level. In recent years, Kumar Murali Gamit and Kumari Sarita Gaekwad won the medal at international level representing Gujarat at Asian Athletics Championship and Commonwealth Games respectively.
